Well, 2017 came and went. And, man, it flew by!
2018 is now upon us and we are already into February. Before we know it, we will be on the water again, pursuing those elusive green fish that we love to chase. And, as always, SRIBA will be together again, competing on a friendly level, enjoying the camaraderie and fellowship of the members.
2018 promises to be an interesting season. We will have two new members, one of which has never fished in a club and has also never owned a bass boat until just recently. His name is Matt and we’re glad to have him on board with us.
Kevin will also be joining us for 2018. Kevin has fished in many tourneys on the club level and in open tournaments as well. Kevin decided he wanted a more laid back atmosphere in the club tournaments he fishes in, so he left another club and is joining us! Kevin fished with us last season as a guest for the last two tourneys of the season. He is a great fit for SRIBA and we’re glad to have him coming back for 2018.
On another note, 2018 will also bring a slight change to our tournament schedule. We will still be fishing 9 tournaments, as we always have. But this will be the first year that we will have 5 night tournaments!
After talking it over, the membership decided that we don’t want to fish during the daytime in August, since it always seems to be very hot. And none of us likes fishing in the heat during the daylight hours!
So our tournaments in July and August will be 100% night tournaments, as well as our club Classic in June and one of our other regular SRIBA tournaments in June. So we will hold 4 daytime tournaments and 5 night tournaments. We will get to give our night fishing lures a good workout this year 🙂 Maybe we should change our name to Night Owls!
We will also be going back to some lakes this year that we haven’t been to in many years. And one of them will be a night tournament on a lake that we’ve never fished on at night in the past. It looks to be an interesting season. So check back for more club news in the future!
