Looking Ahead to The 2017 Season

2016 is behind us. 2017 stands in front of us.

We will be starting a new tournament season in April. 2016 was a different kind of season. It was the first time in SRIBA history that we canceled a tournament due to bad weather and didn’t make up for it later on. So we finished the season with only 8 regular tournaments, instead of the usual 9.

2017 will also be a season of firsts. It will be the first season that we have started after having a club member pass away. As mentioned in another post, Ed Leitz passed away after a lengthy battle with autoimmune disorder. He will be missed for sure.

Another first for the 2017 season will be holding the SRIBA club classic on Pataganset Lake, at night. We have fished Pataganset several times over the years, but always during the day. This year we will give it a try after dark and see how it treats us.

We will also be holding our season opener tournament a week earlier than normal. So we’re hoping that the weather will cooperate and treat us well 🙂

We also have a brand new schedule, with our usual 9 regular tournaments and our club Classic tourney. So 2017 should be a good year for SRIBA, as we gather together for friendly competitions and camaraderie on the water.

So as we move closer to the first tournament of the year, it looks like we will have at least 8 boats this year, with 9 members.
